Poultry in hot weather: useful observations for your adviser
Record flock conditions and management changes rather than selecting a supplement from a symptom alone.
Record time and flock context
Note bird type, age, number affected, timing of behaviour changes and available shed-condition measurements. Distinguish what you measured from what you estimated. A general description of heat stress does not diagnose a flock.
Check the management record
Prepare ventilation, water-supply, feeding and equipment-maintenance information for the poultry professional. List recent changes and products already in use. Ask what measurements or on-site checks are needed before altering the programme.
